Thank You, My "Lab"!

December 2010

I'm very vocal about my Christmas wish list - a new pair of sandals, a new bag and a new pair of slippers. One shopping day, my "Lab" brought me to the mall and bought those wish list items - to my absolute happiness!

My "Lab", thank you! You know how precious you are to me. I love you.
(all together now: eeeeeeeeeeeew cheesy!)

Spotted: The Big Fish of MMDA!

January 22, 2011
EDSA Shrine

Spotted this "big fish" (partly hidden) of MMDA while I was riding a metro bus yesterday noon. I find it politically funny so I whip out my camera before the traffic light goes green. Gotcha!

1) Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernières

I like collecting novels which were later made into films. I watched the movie years ago but I couldn't remember whether I enjoyed it or not. Probably not.

2) Hatchet Jobs and Hardball: The Oxford Dictionary of American Political Slang

A fun read. American political slang is certainly amusing.

3) The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve

I have to watch the film adaptation of the same name to fully appreciate this novel.

My Very Own Nachos Supreme

January 22, 2011
4:00 p.m.-ish
Home sweet home

I made my very own nachos supreme yesterday. I used queso de bola for two reasons: (1) to save some bucks since it's basically part of New Year's Day leftovers and (2) I love cheese - no matter what shape or texture.

Grate it, grate it good!

Fresh from the microwave! Nah, the cheese didn't melt as in melt. Think mozzarella.

Okay, the ingredients. No exact measurement here. Common sense and my picky taste buds prevailed.

1) nacho chips
2) shredded red & green cabbage
3) white onion
4) tomatoes
4) ground beef & pork (pre-cooked with Magic Sarap, lotsa pepper, red onion, garlic and fish sauce to taste)
5) queso de bola.

Perfect with ice-cold Coke. :)

Because I Don't Want To Get Sick...

January 20, 2011
10:00 p.m.
My second favorite place: Kitchen!*

... I drank this Vitamin C-loaded drink. I squeezed six (6) pieces of dalandan and added two teaspoons of brown sugar to kill the sourness. Then I found a three-week old lemon in the fridge; I rescued it and put it into good use.

Bottoms up!

Wondering what's inside that white casserole? It's pork & chicken adobo. Mind you, I was so tempted to eat some with rice (God only knows how many cups) but I think that would be a major diet faux pas. Grrr.

*First place goes to my sanctuary - bedroom!

I Heart Booksale!

January 15, 2011
Booksale
Shopwise Arcade Cubao

As a general rule, I condemn sudden heavy downpours. Who doesn't? Seldom would you find an umbrella in my possession or any protective gear designed to shield me from instant fever and runny rose; hence the general rule. Just like any rule, it admits of exceptions. (Omigod! I suddenly miss Elle Woods drama!) So, the heavy rains forced me to sashay into Booksale - one of my favorite places in The Cube - to kill time and patiently wait for the rains to stop. Obvs, I always treasure every minute I spend in that place. Look what caught my eye and destroyed my weekly budget.

It's THE Nancy Drew! I literally gasped at the sight of this. It brought back wonderful memories of my bibliophilic grade school years.

Brand new & thick as an old school family album

It got an envelope at the back which says "Postcards". When I opened it (note the whitish area), book covers of ND series posing as postcards were revealed. Smells good too!

All pages have interesting features which showcase ND's adventures in the series. Pop-ups galore. Very interesting. As of this writing, I actually finished reading the book. Told ya, I'm a fan!

Spell H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S.

I'm eager to click "publish post" now just so I could read the rest of my book haul upstairs. Au revoir!
