Spotted: The Big Fish of MMDA!

January 22, 2011
EDSA Shrine

Spotted this "big fish" (partly hidden) of MMDA while I was riding a metro bus yesterday noon. I find it politically funny so I whip out my camera before the traffic light goes green. Gotcha!

Kozui Green Tea

Quezon City

It's healthy to go green!

Takoyaki (Php 100) ~ fresh pan grilled tako balls flavored with generous chunks of ika, ebi and negi served with Japanese mayonnaise, bonito flakes, nori and special house takoyaki sauce

 Minced spinach soup (Php 110)

This soup may look terrifying to non-veggie lovers but it tastes A-okay.

Kukicha lemon teaz (Php 90, grande) ~ Japanese kukicha green tea, a tea with sweet infusion of herbal overtones and hints of chestnuts

Celebs spotted: Ricky Davao with his 2 daughters and Bernadette Sembrano

1) Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernières

I like collecting novels which were later made into films. I watched the movie years ago but I couldn't remember whether I enjoyed it or not. Probably not.

2) Hatchet Jobs and Hardball: The Oxford Dictionary of American Political Slang

A fun read. American political slang is certainly amusing.

3) The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve

I have to watch the film adaptation of the same name to fully appreciate this novel.

My Very Own Nachos Supreme

January 22, 2011
4:00 p.m.-ish
Home sweet home

I made my very own nachos supreme yesterday. I used queso de bola for two reasons: (1) to save some bucks since it's basically part of New Year's Day leftovers and (2) I love cheese - no matter what shape or texture.

Grate it, grate it good!

Fresh from the microwave! Nah, the cheese didn't melt as in melt. Think mozzarella.

Okay, the ingredients. No exact measurement here. Common sense and my picky taste buds prevailed.

1) nacho chips
2) shredded red & green cabbage
3) white onion
4) tomatoes
4) ground beef & pork (pre-cooked with Magic Sarap, lotsa pepper, red onion, garlic and fish sauce to taste)
5) queso de bola.

Perfect with ice-cold Coke. :)
